About Palmetto Warrior Connection
Palmetto Warrior Connection (PWC) was founded in 2014 with a grant from the Wounded Warrior Project to support veterans and their families as they re-integrated back into the community. Our geographic area was focused on Charleston, Berkley and Dorchester counties and, at that time, the plan was to eventually become a separate 501c3 away from Palmetto Goodwill and serve the veteran community as a resource for all things needed in civilian life.
But the Charleston area was changing rapidly. Industries like aerospace, manufacturing and computer engineering were driving the hiring needs and new companies were moving into South Carolina along I-95 and I-26 corridors. Palmetto Goodwill quickly understood the new landscape and realized that *underemployment* would be one of the biggest issues for service members or military spouses trying to land civilian jobs.
By early 2019, Palmetto Goodwill completed the Community Impact 2025 strategic plan that would drive the organization’s mission, values and vision into the next century. Development of the plan was rigorous, thorough and inclusive of internal and external stakeholder feedback. It establishes a well defined framework for Goodwill’s future growth, mission advancement and funding, and Palmetto Warrior Connection is the division that will lead the way for veteran and military spouse engagement.
Community Impact 2025 is built upon four pillars – Employment, Sustainability, Innovation, and Communication – and PWC has revised our Mission and Vision to help support those pillars. Now housed under the Mission Services division of Palmetto Goodwill, we are poised to bring creative strategies to job searches, to provide more training opportunities and professional certifications so management positions are attainable for more people, and to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Helping Veterans and Military Spouses achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of appropriate work.
